The Australian rock band has commented on their drummer's run-in with the law, saying that Rudd behaved erratically prior to his arrest.

AceShowbiz - AC/DC's members have commented on their bandmate Phil Rudd's recent arrest. In an interview with USA Today on Thursday, November 13, the Australian rock band revealed that Rudd showed erratic behavior which eventually led to the run-in with the law earlier this month.

According to bassist Cliff Williams, when they were in the studio to work on their upcoming album, "it was tough to get (Rudd) there in the first place." Guitarist Angus Young added, "It put us in a difficult situation." Rudd's behavior continued during the photo shoot. "It put us in a spot where we couldn't move forward. Does the guy show up? Is he reliable to do his job in good shape? We've always been a solid, reliable unit."

The band previously said that Rudd's legal trouble would not affect their album and tour plans. However, it's not immediately known if the drummer would join his bandmates for the upcoming tour to support their new set "Rock or Bust", due out on December 2.

"Phil created his own situation. It's a hard thing to say about the guy. He's a great drummer, and he's done a lot of stuff for us. But he seems to have let himself go. He's not the Phil we've known from the past," Young explained, adding that drugs might play part in Rudd's situation. "When you get into that land, it's very hard. ... I don't know the exact situation. ... I can only say, from our perspective, that the guy needs to sort himself out."

Rudd was arrested in New Zealand on November 6 and was charged with attempting to procure murder, possessing the drugs methamphetamine and cannabis and threatening to kill. The murder-for-hire charge was later dropped, but the others remain.
