'A Clockwork Orange' Actor Warren Clarke Dies at 67

The British actor, who also appeared on series such as 'Dalziel and Pascoe' and 'Call the Midwife', passed away following short illness.

AceShowbiz - British actor Warren Clarke, who played Dim in "A Clockwork Orange", has passed away. According to his agency, Clarke died in his sleep on Wednesday, November 12 at the age of 67 following a short illness. "He will be greatly missed by his family and loved ones. At this time we ask that you respect their privacy in their time of grief," read a statement from the agency.

"The Walking Dead" star David Morrissey led tribute to Clarke on social media. "So sad to hear about the death of Warren Clarke. He was a very special man/a great actor. We had wonderful times together on Red Riding. RIP," he tweeted. "Dom Hemingway" star Richard E. Grant also paid tribute on Twitter, writing, "Shocked to hear that Warren Clarke has died. Worked with twice and shared a holiday in the Caribbean. Hilarious and irreverent."

Clarke started his career on television in the 1960s on "Coronation Street". He played alongside Malcolm McDowell in 1971's "A Clockwork Orange". Clarke probably is mostly remembered for his role as Detective Superintendent Andy Dalziel on "Dalziel and Pascoe" which aired from 1996 to 2007.

Clarke's other credits included "Anthony and Cleopatra", "Bleak House", "Call the Midwife" and "Midsomer Murders". He took part in the filming of BBC adaptation of "Poldark" prior to his passing.

The late actor is survived by his wife Michele and two children, Georgia and Rowan.
