The former Static X frontman's publicist shoots down speculations that drugs contributed to the musician's passing, saying, 'This is not a drug related incident or an O.D.'

AceShowbiz - Wayne Static's publicist denies speculations that drugs contributed to the musician's death at the age of 48 over the weekend. In a statement to Wenn, Nancy B. Sayle says that the former Static X frontman was sober and that he died in his sleep on Saturday, November 1.

"Static's first solo album - 'Pighammer' - was a tribute to his new non-drug life and hoped it would help others to get clean from hard chemical drugs," she said. "More official information about his passing will be released in the following days. This is not a drug related incident or an O.D. (overdose). Please be courteous to his family and wife and leave positive messages."

Static X announced Static's passing on Facebook without revealing details about the cause of death. Following the release of the news, some people speculated that Static's passing was due to drug use.

"RIP Wayne. This is so sad. Too many musicians are dying from overdoses. I'm serious, addiction is real and takes fools out. No one is invincible. So glad I live a sober life today. The number of friends that I have lost to addiction is crazy... I know drugs and partying are part of the 'rock 'n' roll lifestyle,' but damn, how many more gotta die??? F**k the lifestyle, I want life!!!! See you on the other side, Wayne," Papa Roach's Jacoby Shaddix wrote on Instagram.

Other musicians such as Korn's Jonathan Davis and Jane's Addiction's member Dave Navarro also paid tribute. "Very sad to hear of @IAmWayneStatic's passing. Spent a lot of time together on @TheOzzfest tours. A tragic loss. Love to his family/friends," Ozzy Osbourne tweeted.
