'Richie Rich' Gets Live-Action Series for 2015 Debut

'Dark Skies' actor Jake Brennan is tapped to play the lead role in the latest adaptation which has got 21-episode order.

AceShowbiz - "Richie Rich" is heading to TV. The live-action show will be adapted from 1980s cartoon based on a 1950s comic which also inspired a 1994 movie starring Macaulay Culkin. In the revival, the title role will be played by "Dark Skies" actor Jake Brennan.

Produced by AwesomenessTV, the reboot has found a home at Netflix. The network has ordered 21 episodes of the half-hour comedy for early 2015 debut. Tim Pollock and Jeff Hodsden ("The Suite Life of Zack and Cody") are among the showrunners.

On the latest adaptation, Richie makes his money by inventing and selling a cool new green technology. The show will follow his adventures with his friends after he moves into a decked out mansion and instantly starts living the most awesome life ever.

According to TheWrap, the cast members include Joshua Carlon, Jenna Ortega, Lauren Taylor, Kiff VandenHeuvel ("Star Trek Into Darkness"), and Brooke Wexler.
