Cream Bassist Jack Bruce Dies at 71

The former bandmate of Eric Clapton passed away at his home in Suffolk after struggling with liver disease.

AceShowbiz - Jack Bruce, one of the top musicians in the 1960s, passed away. The singer, songwriter, and bassist for legendary band Cream died Saturday, October 25 of liver disease. He was 71. The sad news was announced by his family on his official website and Facebook.

"It is with great sadness that we, Jack's family, announce the passing of our beloved Jack: husband, father, granddad, and all round legend," it's revealed. "The world of music will be a poorer place without him, but he lives on in his music and forever in our hearts."

His publicist, Claire Singers, additionally said, "He died at his home in Suffolk surrounded by his family."

Bruce whose real name is John Symon Asher Bruce formed Cream with guitarist Eric Clapton and drummer Ginger Baker in 1966. They sold millions of albums and recorded a number of hits including "Sunshine of Your Love" and "White Room". They eventually split in 1968 during their heyday.

They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993 and played reunion shows in 2005 and 2006. After the band's breakup, Bruce released over a dozen solo albums. His last record "Silver Rails" came out in March this year.
