AceShowbiz - Christian Slater has landed a new TV role, months after his latest show "Mind Games" was canceled by ABC. The 45-year-old actor is cast in the title role of USA Network's cyber-crime pilot "Mr. Robot".

The project, from Universal Cable Productions, centers on a young programmer, Elliot (Rami Malek), who suffers from an anti-social disorder and can only connect to people by hacking them. He will find himself in the intersection between a cybersecurity firm he works for and the underworld organizations recruiting him to bring down corporate America.

Slater's Mr. Robot is described as a mysterious anarchist who recruits Elliot into an underground hacker organization intent on bringing down corporate America. Other actors to star in the pilot are Portia Doubleday, Carly Chaikin and Martin Wallstrom. Sam Esmail is tapped to write the script.

Slater was a series regular on FOX's sitcom "Breaking In" which ran for two seasons from 2011-2012. He later toplined drama comedy "Mind Games" which debuted in February on ABC, but the show only lasted for a short 5-episode first season.
