LA Film Critics Association to Honor Gena Rowlands

The veteran actress will be honored with the organization's annual Career Achievement in January next year.

AceShowbiz - Gena Rowlands was announced as the recipient of LA Film Critics Association's Career Achievement awards later this winter. The organization said the Oscar-nominated actress would be feted during the event held January 15.

Rowland has been in the show business for six decades. She was noted for her performances in "Gloria" and "A Woman Under the Influence", the latter which won her a Golden Globe. She is also known as a small screen actress, having won three Emmys for her role in miniseries/TV Movies "Hysterical Blindness", "Face of a Stranger", and "The Betty Ford Story".

The 84-year-old most recently appeared in 2004 drama "The Notebook" and TV series "Monk" and "NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service". She also starred in her son Nick Cassavetes' "Yellow" and daughter Zoe Cassavetes' "Broken English".

In receiving the kudos, Rowlands follows the footsteps of Doris Day, Richard Lester and Orson Welles among others. The honorees were voted by members of LAFCA which consisted of almost 60 professional film critics working in print and electronic media in Los Angeles.
