The first single off the group's new album 'Sonic Highways' comes just a day before their HBO documentary series premieres on Friday, October 17.

AceShowbiz - As promised, Foo Fighters' first single from their upcoming album, "Sonic Highways", arrived on Thursday, October 16. Titled "Something From Nothing", the track is the result of the band's week-long stay in Chicago. They recorded it with producer Steve Albini.

"Sonic Highways" is coming out on November 10. For the LP, the band recorded eight songs in eight cities across the U.S., including Los Angeles, Seattle and New York. The making of the project is chronicled in an eight-part documentary titled "Foo Fighters Sonic Highways" that's premiering on HBO on Friday.

The first episode will document the band's recording process during their stop in Chicago. It will also feature interviews with Chicago legends like Buddy Guy and Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen.

"The episode is basically about these people and how they all started with nothing," frontman Dave Grohl told reporters at the New York screening for the first episode earlier this week. "They were just inspired to follow their dreams, like Buddy Guy, legendary blues guitarist. He made his first guitar from wires and nails and pieces of wood from a screen porch. Now he's like a blues legend."

Following the premiere, HBO will be streaming the band's performance at the city's Cubby Bear. The rockers have been serving as the musical guest on "Late Show With David Letterman" since Monday.
