The 'This Is the End' star will play himself who is cast as Mitch, the fictional version of Paulie G, on the show within the show.

AceShowbiz - Seth Rogen has signed up for "The Comeback". The actor/writer is set to guest star on the revived HBO series, reuniting with Lisa Kudrow after they shared screen in R-rated comedy movie "Neighbors" which was released last May.

In the upcoming installment of the comedy series, the "Knocked Up" star will play himself, who is cast as Mitch, the fictional version of Paulie G. (Lance Barber), Valerie's (Kudrow) former nemesis, on a show within the show.

The fictional show created by Paulie G. chronicles his years dealing with drug addiction and his fraught relationships with his actors, including the fictional Mallory Church, who will be portrayed by Valerie. Rogen will appear in two of the new eight episodes.

"The Comeback" new season takes place nine years after events in the first season which aired on HBO in 2005. The show will find Valerie trying to get back in the spotlight again by taking a role on the Paulie G.-created "Seeing Red".

Series co-creator Michael Patrick King says of Rogen's involvement on the revived show, "The Holy Grail would be to get Seth Rogen. He's the right everything. He's, first of all, ungettable. He's genuinely a superstar of movies. And he's a perfect translation, type-wise. And the other big trick is, Seth himself feels so real; it would feel real within a fictional situation, which is what we try to do with everybody we cast on 'The Comeback'." He adds, "All roads led to Seth. But we didn't know what those roads were going to be."

"The Comeback" premieres the new episodes Sunday, November 9 at 10 P.M. ET on HBO. Besides Kudrow, Laura Silverman, Malin Akerman and Kellan Lutz are set to reprise their respective role.
