AceShowbiz - Brad Pitt has owned a gun since he was very young. In a new interview with Radio Times to promote his new flick "Fury", the actor talked about owning a weapon, saying that he got his first gun when he was in kindergarten.

"There's a rite of passage where I grew up of inheriting your ancestors' weapons," he shared, as reported by The Independent. "My brother got my dad's. I got my grandfather's shotgun when I was in kindergarten." He first received an air gun, then the shotgun at the age of six. He fired his first gun at the age of 8.

Pitt, who was born in Oklahoma and raised in Missouri, said that he did not feel his family was safe unless there was a gun at home. "The positive is that my father instilled in me a profound and deep respect for the weapon," he added.

Angelina Jolie's husband is now gearing up for the release of the World War II flick. In the same interview, Pitt additionally opened up about his son Maddox's involvement in the project. "Maddox knows so much about tanks that when we first started on the movie, I was asking him for information," he said, as reported by Vanity Fair. "He has an extensive knowledge developed on his own since he was young."

Pitt is joined by Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Jason Isaacs and Scott Eastwood among others in the war movie. The David Ayer-directed pic is set to hit U.S. theaters on October 17.
