The actor opened up about life after splitting from his wife, saying, 'I'm just taking everything one day at a time and just being the best person that I can possibly be at the end of the day.'

AceShowbiz - Nick Cannon opened up to Extra reporter A.J. Calloway when attending "Addicted" premiere in New York City on Wednesday, October 8 about his life after separating from his wife Mariah Carey. He said, "I'm just taking everything one day at a time and just being the best person that I can possibly be at the end of the day."

When asked about recent reports which said Mariah had vocal issues at her concert in Japan, Nick replied, "I just wish her nothing but the best, we're in contact constantly, you know you might have an off night here and there, but she's one of the greatest performers and entertainers of all time, she's not worried, we're not worried, just going to keep pushing."

The "America's Got Talent" host told A.J. about his new tattoo, which covers up his "Mariah" tribute ink, saying, "It's not finished yet... It wasn't supposed to be revealed yet... I didn't know they were there, that's how sneaky paparazzi are... I had just gotten it done, it was painful... It hurt a lot and I'm still not finished, I'm still probably like six more sessions away."

In another interview with HuffPost Live, Nick opened up about the "harshest" part of his split from Mariah. "Public opinion is the harshest thing about it," the 34-year-old actor said, "Every family, every relationship, all these people go through things and they deal with it the way that they choose to deal with it. But to have someone judging the way you're dealing with your personal life is always like, 'Hey, that's a little harsh.' But I also know what I signed up for."

Nick confirmed separation from Mariah back in August after six years of marriage. At that time, he told The Insider with Yahoo, "We have been living in separate houses for a few months."
