Wu-Tang Clan Reveals Why Their Collaboration With Drake Got Scrapped
Music

The group explains the project was nixed because they and Drizzy had different things to rap about, saying the Canadian MC wanted them 'to talk about broads' while they weren't 'in a broad mode.'

AceShowbiz - After Drake debuted "Wu-Tang Forever" last year, reports emerged suggesting that the rapper planned to work with Wu-Tang Clan to remix the song. Details about the new version remained unknown until recently, when the rap collective revealed in an interview with MTV that the remix had been scrapped.

According to Wu-Tang, they were asked to join Drake for the remix when they were on tour in Europe. They were willing to be involved in the project. "We had got the call, and said, 'Yo, let's take a session in the studio and see if we can cut something up for the young brother,' " RZA said.

The Wu-Tang members recorded their parts but the collaboration never materialized because they and Drizzy had very different subjects to rap about.

"I guess we kind of came too hard for him. He wanted us to talk about broads, but at that time, we wasn't in a broad mode," U-God explained. "We had to write it real fast. No lie, I probably had about six hours to write this thing. At the time, I wasn't feeling woman-y - I was feeling hard as nails. So, I wrote him a hard as nail rhyme, and he was talking about something totally different, so the subject matter didn't really mesh."

Despite that, the New York rappers are still Drake's fans. "I like Drake, though," Ghostface Killah said. "I like him because he pays homage. But at the end of the day, he knows how to rhyme. He's not weak."
