Stephen Collins' Ex-Wife Faye Grant Speaks Out About Child Molestation Audio

Grant, who secretly recorded the conversations during a therapy session, says in a statement, 'I had no involvement whatsoever with the release of the tape to the media.'

AceShowbiz - Faye Grant has denied that she had anything to do with the emergence of an audio recording in which her ex-husband Stephen Collins admitted to exposing himself to young girls. The recording, which surfaced on TMZ on early Tuesday, October 7, was secretly taken by Grant during a therapy session.

"I woke up today to learn that an extremely private recording I handed over to the authorities in 2012 per their request in connection with a criminal investigation was recently disseminated to the press," she said in a statement. "I had no involvement whatsoever with the release of the tape to the media."

According to an official document obtained by PEOPLE, Grant said she learned of the disturbing action in 2012. "On January 19, 2012, I learned for the first time that Stephen had been living a secret life. In the presence of his therapist, Stephen admitted that he had engaged in a long term pattern of sexually abusing minor children, including sexually molesting three young girls over a decade ago," read the document. Grant additionally said that she believed Collins had "narcissistic personality disorder with sociopathic tendencies."

In the 3-minute audio, a male voice which allegedly belongs to Collins says that he molested and/or exposed himself to three children. Following the release of the audio, TMZ reports that LAPD will collaborate with NYPD to re-check a 2012 molestation report involving Collins. Back then, the police also received the same audio recording, but they reportedly found "no verified victim."

Collins probably is mostly remembered for playing Pastor/dad Eric Camden on "7th Heaven". His co-star on the show Catherine Hicks, who played his on-screen wife, has commented on the molestation report. "I have really nothing to say, nothing to hide. I don't know anything. Stephen is a good guy in my opinion," she told a videographer. When asked if any cast member suspected that he abused children, she replied, "No. Gosh no. Not to my knowledge."
