Quvenzhane Wallis to Star in 'Counting by 7s' Film Adaptation

The bestselling book by Holly Goldberg Sloan is being developed into a movie with the starlet attached as Willow Chance.

AceShowbiz - Quvenzhane Wallis will once again portray an orphan. The star of the upcoming musical "Annie" has signed on to lead "Counting by 7s", a drama based on Holly Goldberg Sloan's bestselling novel.

Wallis will play the novel's central character, Willow Chance, who is taken by an unlikely surrogate family and unfit guidance counselor after the death of her adoptive parents. In the wake of tremendous loss, the bright girl rises to build a community that she heals and that heals her.

"I am honored to play the role of Willow in 'Counting by 7s'," Wallis said. "I love the message behind the story. I am excited to be a part of it and to see it come to life."

"Counting by 7s" was optioned for adaptation to film by The Mazur/Kaplan Company and Olympus Pictures. Sloan, Paula Mazur, Mitchell Kaplan, Leslie Urdang and Dean Vanech all produce the pic.

Following her Oscar nomination in "Beasts of the Southern Wild", Wallis scored roles in "Fathers and Daughters", "The Prophet" and "Annie".
