New cast member Pete Davidson also makes his debut in the 'Weekend Update' segment, talking about going down on a guy for a million dollars.

AceShowbiz - "Saturday Night Live" kicked off its 40th season on September 27 with Chris Pratt as host. The episode opened quite flat with a cold open about the domestic violence controversies in NFL recently, in which Pratt impersonated NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. In his monologue, he showed his skill with guitar as singing about having sex and making a baby with his actress wife Anna Faris.

The cast further took a jab at the NFL in a sketch where they impersonated the players who disclosed their criminal pasts. Pratt, meanwhile, poked fun at Marvel's ability to turn every even the lamest story into box office hit.

Pratt drew more laughs in "Booty Rap" in which he and Aidy Bryant spit nasty hip-hop-inspired lyrics to seduce each other. "Drop that ass low and shut the hell up," the "Guardians of the Galaxy" hunk rapped and then invited Bryant to smoke some crack.

The episode marked Michael Che's debut as the new "Weekend Update" co-anhor and Pete Davidson's first appearance as a new cast member. Cecily Strong, who was replaced by Che, helped introduced her successor by appearing as her popular character The Girl You Wish You Hadn't Started a Conversation With at a Party in the segment.

Che, co-anchor Colin Jost and Kenan Thompson gave some words of comfort to President Barack Obama amid low approval ratings. Che said, "On the bright side, after the midterm election, pretty much nothing you do will matter. Then you can be the first black president I was hoping for. You think people flipped out about your tan suit? Wait until they see your purple suit."

Davidson also joined the segment as the show's expert young person. He talked about being a "businessman," saying, "If you don't go down on a guy for a million dollars, you obviously don't care about your family."

Ariana Grande heated up the stage with a sexy performance of "Break Free". She also appeared in a sketch where they spoofed "Thundercats", portraying She-Ra.

"SNL" returns next week with Sarah Silverman as host and musical guest Maroon 5.
