Aidan Gillen would be so-called the villain in 'The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials' which immediately takes place after the teens' escape.

AceShowbiz - "The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials" is definitely moving fast. Not long after 20th Century Fox set a release date for "The Maze Runner" sequel, the first new character is cast.
According to THR, Aidan Gillen, the manipulative Littlefinger on "Game of Thrones" series, has signed up to play the villain. His character Janson is also known as Rat Man in the YA book series the movies are based on.
Janson is not exactly the main villain in the second book but there is a possibility that his character would be expanded. The lead character Thomas has an intense dislike for the member of World In Catastrophe Killzone Experiment Department aka WICKED, the organization behind the deadly maze from the first volume.
Wes Ball is back to direct and produce the sequel. Dylan O'Brien also returns as Thomas. The story picks up after the teen heroes escape the deadly maze and are now in the run on an Earth that is a wasteland and ravaged by solar flares.
Shooting will begin at the end of next month with the plan to release it on September 18, 2015.
