The former 'Weekend Update' co-anchor says she's 'genuinely happy' that Michael Che replaces her in the segment.

AceShowbiz - Cecily Strong has spoken up after she was cut from "Weekend Update" on "Saturday Night Live". The comedian, who remains a cast member on the show, took to Instagram on Friday night, September 12 to assure fans that there's no bad blood after she was replaced by Michael Che as "Weekend Update" co-anchor.

"I don't see this as me leaving update, just as me being on update in a looser, goofier way that is a lot more fun for me and in a way I think I'm better at," she wrote. "And now I get to do features with the very funny and wonderful Michael Che! No point in being angry or sad for me for something I'm genuinely happy about!"

Che, who has been a correspondent for "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and a writer on "SNL", will make his debut as the new "Weekend Update" co-anchor when the NBC series kicks off its 40th season on September 27. He joins Colin Jost in the segment.

Chris Pratt will host the season opener with musical guest Ariana Grande.
