A spokesperson for New York City Department of Education says they were forced to deny her offer to speak to students because she wanted to film her visit.

AceShowbiz - Nicki Minaj's old high school, Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, explains the real reason why they declined her offer to speak to students. A spokesperson for Department of Education which operates the New York performing arts high school says they couldn't let her come because she planned on bringing cameras into the school to film her visit.

"Of course alumni are welcome back to our campuses and we love to celebrate their success, providing it does not interrupt the educational process. Alumni visit all the time and address students," the rep says to Gossip Cop. "However, we do not allow reality TV to be filmed on school property. For documentaries, any visit to a public school must be educational in nature and cannot intrude on instruction."

The female rapper brought up the issue on Twitter as saying, "I wanted to go back to my HS and speak to the students but the new principal declined. No need for me to inspire them, I guess. Smh." When one of her followers asked if the principle told her the reason why, she replied, "It's a WOMAN. And not really," before adding, "I guess I'm not good enough."

Last year to Teen Vogue, she praised her old alma mater which the movie "Fame" was based on, "It was the first time I felt like I really fit in. Everyone there was creative. For once, I didn't feel like there was something weird about me." In the wake of the rejection, she tweeted, "That school changed my life and I wanted to pay it forward to the students there now. I was really looking forward to it."
