The 'Monuments Men' actor and director has filmed ITV's charity movie on the set of the British period drama.

AceShowbiz - George Clooney is making a trip to "Downton Abbey", but he's not going to star on the hit drama series. Instead, the actor is taking a part in a "Downton Abbey" charity film, a spokesperson for the British series has confirmed.

The standalone movie, called "Text Santa", is set in Highclere Castle in Hampshire where the PBS hit is filmed. The 53-year-old hunk will appear in a sketch scene for the Christmas charity fundraiser and has already filmed his part in the movie, which is a few minutes long.

Clooney is a fan of "Downton Abbey". Back in May, he took his soon-to-be-wife Amal Alamuddin on a tour of Highclere Castle. "Highclere is sometimes open to the public but this day it wasn't, so they were the only ones there. They spent a few hours there before they returned to their hotel," a source told Us Weekly at the time.

The British period drama will return with the fifth season on January 4, 2015 in the U.S., after debuting earlier in the U.K. on September 21.
