AceShowbiz - A star-studded tribute album to honor Paul McCartney is on the way. Set to be released on November 18, the record titled "The Art of Paul McCartney" will feature a number of iconic musicians covering some of the songs he performed as a member of The Beatles, Wings as well as a solo artist.
Having been in the works since 2003, the album is masterminded by Ralph Sall, a Los Angeles producer and huge fan of Beatles and McCartney. After getting Macca's approval, he rounded together the musician's backing band (guitarists Brian Ray and Rusty Anderson, drummer Abe Laboriel, Jr. and keyboardist Paul 'Wix' Wickens) and began recruiting potential singers.
Brian Wilson was the first to join the project, choosing "Wanderlust" from McCartney's 1982 album "Tug of War". Other tracks in the 34-song set include "Things We Said Today" by Bob Dylan, "Yesterday" by Willie Nelson, "The Long and Winding Road" by Yusuf Islam a.k.a. Cat Stevens, "Band on the Run" by Heart, "When I'm 64" by Barry Gibb and "Helter Skelter" by Roger Daltrey.
"Hello Goodbye" by The Cure was released on Tuesday, September 9 as the first offering from the album. It came along with an accompanying video that features an appearance from McCartney's son James McCartney.
The compilation album, which will have 8 more cover tracks and some other extras on its deluxe edition, is now available for pre-order.
