The Baltimore Ravens announces that they have cut Rice's contract hours after a video of Rice attacking his now-wife Janay Palmer in an elevator made its way out online.

AceShowbiz - The Baltimore Ravens' running back Ray Rice has been cut from the team following the emergence of a new video of him attacking his now-wife Janay Palmer in an elevator at the Revel Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City on February 15. Hours after the graphic video was posted by TMZ on Monday, September 8, the team announced in a Twitter post, "The #Ravens have terminated RB Ray Rice's contract this afternoon."

Soon after the Ravens made the announcement, the NFL said Rice would be suspended indefinitely. "Commissioner Roger Goodell has announced that based on the new video evidence that became available today, he has imposed an indefinite suspension on Ray Rice," the statement read.

The disturbing footage posted by the entertainment site shows Rice punching his then-fiancee. After she hit her head on the hand rail and lost consciousness, Rice dragged her out of the elevator before dropping her on the floor. The NFL said that they had not seen the video. "We requested from law enforcement any and all information about the incident, including the video from inside the elevator," they said. "That video was not made available to us and no one in our office has seen it until today."

Rice was suspended for two games in July, which was deemed too lenient by some people. "I don't know much about football, but I know that Ray Rice is a piece of garbage who shouldn't be allowed to play it professionally anymore," Seth Rogen tweeted before the NFL announced the indefinite suspension. "@nflcommish your punishment for beating a woman is less than for smoking weed. Get your head out of your f**king a**."
