The former James Bond actor, who lost his daughter and first wife to ovarian cancer, is joined by other stars such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon and Katie Couric at the event.

AceShowbiz - Pierce Brosnan talked about his first wife Cassandra and daughter Charlotte who passed away from ovarian cancer as he attended the 2014 Stand Up to Cancer fundraiser on Friday, September 5. At the star-studded event, the former James Bond actor also expressed his happiness following a story from a cancer survivor.

"To watch someone you love have his or her life eaten away bit by bit by this insidious disease, that part of your sorrow becomes an indelible part of your psyche. I held the generous, strong, beautiful hand of my first wife Cassie as ovarian cancer took her life much too soon. Just last year, I held the hand of my funny, wonderful daughter Charlotte before she, too, died from this wretched inherited disease," Brosnan said.

"So, as a man who's watched the women he loves so much struggle with great pain, I rejoice in Beverly's story. She is alive. She is standing tall and strong. She is caring for her loving family and working in her art gallery. She is thriving. And we want her results to be the same results for every woman who has been diagnosed," the star of "The November Man" added.

The 61-year-old actor was among famous people at the star-studded telethon at Dolby Theatre. The event, which was produced by Gwyneth Paltrow and Joel Gallen, was also attended by Reese Witherspoon, Katie Couric, Joe Manganiello, Jennifer Hudson and Jon Hamm among others.

Will Ferrell brought some laughter at the event by channeling his "Anchorman" character Ron Burgundy. The actor talked about defeating cancer, saying, "Let's grab one of cancers testicles and pop it like a plump water balloon on a hot summer day," before lashing out at other zodiac signs including Gemini and Pisces.
