The daughter of former president Bill Clinton has left NBC News as she's ready to begin mom duties.

AceShowbiz - Chelsea Clinton has exited NBC News where she served as special correspondent with the news division since December 2011. The 34-year-old mom-to-be announced the decision Friday, August 29, posting on her Facebook page, "To continue focusing on my work at the Clinton Foundation and as Marc and I look forward to welcoming our first child, I have decided to leave my position as a NBC Special Correspondent."

"It's been a privilege to be part of the NBC Family. I admire the work and dedication that their reporters, producers, crews, editors and studio teams deliver every day, particularly as I personally experienced through the stewardship of Brian Williams at Nightly News and Rock Center," she added. "While my role with NBC News may be coming to an end, I look forward to working with the NBC family well into the future."

NBC News SVP Alex Wallace responded to Chelsea's announcement in a statement which read, "Chelsea's storytelling inspired people across the country and showcased the real power we have as individuals to make a difference in our communities. While she will be missed, we look forward to working with her in the future."

Chelsea's "Making a Difference" segment appeared on both newsmagazine "Rock Center" and "NBC Nightly News". She's specialized in feel-good stories of "remarkable people and organizations making a profound difference."

In June, it was revealed that she earned a staggering $600,000 paycheck a year for the job despite the fact that she had no experience in journalism. Starting this year, she worked for the network on a month-to-month basis. Her last segment aired August 1.
