Sony Pictures announced on Tuesday, August 12 the new dates that will benefit its two upcoming releases.

AceShowbiz - Sony Pictures is making changes in the release dates of its two upcoming films, "Fury" and "Pixels". The former is being moved up from November 14 to October 17, 2014 while the latter is pushed back by two months from May 15 to July 24, 2015.

In its new crowded slot, "Fury" will battle Fox's "The Book of Life" and "Birdman", Open Road's "Nightcrawler", Relativity's "The Best of Me", and Universal's "Dracula Untold" among others. The move actually frees "Fury" from the hype surrounding two blockbusters "Interstellar" and "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1" that open on November 7 and 21 respectively.

Written and directed by David Ayer, "Fury" stars Brad Pitt as a battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy who commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Outnumbered and outgunned, and with a rookie soldier thrust into their platoon, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany.

Meanwhile, Adam Sandler's comedy "Pixels" aims for midsummer run in 2015, battling Fox's "Poltergeist" and Universal's "Trainwreck" among others. On its old date, "Pixels" would get tougher competition from "Mad Max: Fury Road" and "Pitch Perfect 2".

Directed by Chris Columbus, "Pixels" is about intergalactic aliens misinterpreting the video-feeds of classic arcade games as a declaration of war against them and attack the Earth, using the games as models for their various assaults around the world. President Will Cooper (Kevin James) has to call on his childhood best friend, '80s video game champion Sam Brenner (Sandler), now working as a home theater installer, to help defeat them all.
