The bottom six dancers perform solo routines and those who impress the judges nab the spots in the Top 10.
It's down to 10 on "So You Think You Can Dance" season 11. The latest episode which aired on Wednesday, July 30 began with 14 dancers, but 4 were sent home at the end of the episode. Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy were joined by actress Christina Applegate on the judging panel.
First, 8 of the Top 10 dancers were announced. They are Bridget Whitman, Emilio Dosal, Jacque LeWarne, Ricky Ubeda, Tanisha Belnap, Rudy Abreu, Valerie Rockey and Zack Everhart Jr.. The bottom 6 danced solo in addition to the pair number.
Bridget and Emilio did a creepy yet fun jazz number. Tanisha and Rudy performed a seductive contemporary dance which earned a standing ovation from Christina. Serge Onik danced an energetic solo next, followed by Jacque and Zack who danced a metal vampire paso doble.
Carly Blaney went with a contemporary number for her solo, while Emily James and Teddy Coffey who were not safe either paired up for a Broadway routine, but failed to impress the judges. Casey Askew's solo involved some great athletic moves, while Emily danced a lovely contemporary for her solo number.
Casey was later paired with Jessica Richens for a Travis Wall routine, which Nigel dubbed "magical." Later, Teddy did a hip-hop robotic routine, before Carly and Serge danced the first quickstep of the season. Jessica's jazz number was steamy, while Valerie and Ricky danced creepy doll hip hop routine. Mary said Valerie and Ricky murdered it.
There were also group numbers by the Top 7 female and males each. After the group dances, Nigel agreed with Misty Copeland that the boys were much better this year.
At the end of the episode, Jessica and Casey earned the last two spots in the Top 10, while the other four dancers were eliminated. The remaining 10 dancers also found out their all-star partners in the most recent outing.
