The former coach and judge of 'The Voice' breaks the record of getting most likes on Facebook just months after she was named the most-liked musician on the social media site in March.
Shakira became the first person ever who got 100 million likes on Facebook. On July 18, she posted two videos to express her gratitude to her fans who helped her reach the amazing milestone.
Shakira said in a statement about her amazing milestone, "I am honored and humbled about reaching this milestone. Social media and specifically Facebook has helped myself and other artists bridge the gap between the stage and the audience."
Meanwhile, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO and founder of Facebook, wrote a comment on the "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" singer's page, "Congrats! What an amazing milestone for an amazing person."
In the first video, Shakira thanked her fans who helped her reach the amazing milestone, saying, "That is incredible. Thank you so much for your support, for your loyalty, for your love. It's really unbelievable. Thank you so much." The Grammy-winning Colombian singer captioned the video with, "100 million friends on Facebook! That is incredible! Shak."
Shakira shared on the second video a photo collection, including some of her greatest moments since joining the social media site. She also added a handwritten letter to thank her fans in the video. The handwritten letter read, "100 million friends on Facebook! Thank you so much for joining me and propelling me on this incredible journey. I couldn't do it with you all!"
Back in March, Shakira was named the most-liked musician on Facebook with 86.3 million likes. At that time, she narrowly beat out Rihanna who got 86.2 million likes.
