George Takei was one of many people who took part in the 40th annual Pride Parade in Seattle, which took place on Sunday, June 29. The LGBT activist, who probably is mostly known for playing Hikaru Sulu in "Star Trek", was the Celebrity Grand Marshal at the parade which took place along Fourth Avenue and started at 11 A.M.

"Well 40 years ago, what seemed unimaginable, today is reality," said the actor, as reported by NWCN. He was joined by his husband at the parade. "We look forward to the day - I think this decade - when we will indeed have the United States of America." Macklemore, who made a surprise appearance, received loud cheers from fans.

There were 200 groups who participated in the event. As reported by Seattle Times, Seattle's new police chief Kathleen O'Toole was also present. Some officers were seen taking pictures with some crowd members. Seattle's first openly gay mayor Ed Murray served as the event's community grand marshall.

The parade was also attended by special guests, the activists who organized the event 40 years ago. The parade, which first took place in 1974, was held with a $500 budget.
