Frances Bean Cobain Comments on Lana Del Rey's 'I Wish I Was Dead Already' Statement

The daughter of Kurt Cobain said that 'the death of young musicians isn't something to romanticize' and told Lana to 'embrace this life.'

Frances Bean Cobain, the only child of rocker musician couple Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, posted a series of tweets on June 23 commenting on Lana Del Rey's statement about her wish to die young. She wrote, "@LanaDelRey the death of young musicians isn't something to romanticize. "

"I'll never know my father because he died young & it becomes a desirable feat because ppl like u think it's 'cool,' " she continued, "Well, it's f**king not. Embrace life, because u only get one life. The ppl u mentioned wasted that life.Don't be 1 of those ppl." Zoe, a fan of Lana, criticized Frances' tweet, writing, "holy s**t leave her the f**k alone. everyone wants to die sometimes, she was havibg a bad day. she took it back."

Frances then responded to the fan's tweet, posting, "@westcoastkilos @LanaDelRey I told her to not waste her life. How is that attacking. I literally said embrace this life because u only get1. @LanaDelRey ur too talented to waste it away."

She then deleted her previous tweets and posted, "I'm not attacking anyone. I have no animosity towards Lana, I was just trying to put things in perspective from personal experience."

The "Ultraviolence" singer has responded to Frances' tweets, saying, "@alka_seltzer666 it's all good. He was asking me a lot a out your dad I said I liked him because he was talented not because he died young. the other half of what I said wasn't really related to the people he mentioned/ I don't find that part of music glam either."

Earlier this month, The Guardian interviewed Lana about her latest album "Ultraviolence". When she was talking about her idols, Kurt and Amy Winehouse, the interviewer pointed out that what linked them was death and asked Lana if she saw glamour in early death. Lana then answered, "I don't know. Ummm, yeah. I wish I was dead already."

Lana slammed Alexis, the Guardian's interviewer behind her "I wish I was dead" quote, on Twitter on June 19, but deleted it shortly afterwards. She wrote, "i regret trusting the guardian - i didn't want to do an interview but the journalist was persistent. Alexis was masked as a fan but was hiding sinister ambitions and angles."

"Maybe he's actually the boring one looking for something interesting to write about. His leading questions about death and persona were calculated," she added.
