The 2014 Teen Choice Awards nominees have been unveiled. In the movie category, teen's favorites like "Divergent" and "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" became the obvious contenders.
"Divergent" scored three nominations; one for Choice Action Movie and two for its leading cast Shailene Woodley and Theo James. Woodley also scored through her role as cancer-stricken teen in "The Fault in Our Stars".
Meanwhile, the second "Hunger Games" movie scored more nominations due to bigger number of leads. Beside being nominated for Choice Sci-Fi/Fantasy, the sequel scored through Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson. A hard-working actress, Lawrence is also nominated through her roles in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and "American Hustle".
The nominations list is also dominated by recent summer movies such as "The Amazing Spider-Man 2", "Maleficent" and "Edge of Tomorrow". Romcom "Blended" unexpectedly nabbed three nominations despite flopping at the box office.
The 2014 Teen Choice Awards will be held on August 10 and aired live from UCLA Pauley Pavilion on FOX. The annual special also celebrates the year's choicest teen icons in television, music, sports, comedy, fashion and the web.
"This is a show that gives teens a voice, so we owe it to them to turn things up a few notches as we head into our 16th year," said executive producer Bob Bain. "We can't wait to inject this show with some new categories, fresh energy and a new venue."
