Superman Statue in 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' Explained
Rumor has it, the 'Man of Steel' sequel will take place two years after the events in the first film and Superman will be feted for defending earth against General Zod.

While the official synopsis for "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is still kept under tight wraps, some plot details emerge, revealing the purpose of the gigantic Superman statue spotted on set. According to Batman-News, the statue is part of a ceremony to honor Man of Steel for heroically saving earth in the first film.

"Batman v Superman takes place about two years after the events of Man of Steel. Gotham and Metropolis news trucks [seen in on-set pictures from Latino Review] and helicopters were on the scene to cover the Mayor's speech and the statue unveiling. Elementary school kids wore 'Superman Survivors' shirts and helped pull a sheet off the statue for the big reveal."

The site also dished on the Batman vehicle which was already unveiled by director Zack Synder on Twitter. According to the scoop, the Batmobile doors open up like wings.

The "Man of Steel" sequel is set to open against "Captain America 3" on May 6, 2016 in the States. It is reportedly filmed back to back with "Justice League" which is rumored to arrive in May 2017. Henry Cavill is back as Superman, Ben Affleck is cast as Batman, Gal Gadot is tapped as Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg stars as Lex Luthor, and Jason Momoa is expected to play Aquaman.
