Lana Del Rey Debuts New Album's Title Track 'Ultraviolence'

The slow-tempo and dark-themed ballad features the New York-born singer talking about an abusive relationship.

Last month, Lana Del Rey debuted "Ultraviolence", the title track of her upcoming album, during her live performance in Vancouver. Now, the New York-born singer treated fans with the official studio version of the song.

Arriving via her Vevo page on Wednesday, June 4, the track is a slow-tempo ballad that features Del Rey talking about being in an abusive relationship over the gloomy piano chords. In it, she also quotes The Crystals' controversial "He Hit Me (And It Felt Like a Kiss)".

"This is ultraviolence, ultraviolence," she sings the chorus. "I can hear sirens, sirens/ He hit me and it felt like a kiss/ I can hear violins, violins/ Give me all of that ultraviolence."

"Ultraviolence" album is scheduled to hit the stores on June 17. Produced by The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach, the follow-up to 2012's "Born to Die" has so far been preceded by lead single "West Coast" and promo track "Shades of Cool".
