Robert Pattinson Bails on Saddam Hussein Film 'Mission: Blacklist'

The 'Bel Ami' actor bows out of the indie thriller, in which he was attached to play military interrogator Eric Maddox, due to scheduling issues.

Robert Pattinson has exited "Mission: Blacklist". A rep confirms to Gossip Cop that the British heartthrob is forced to leave the project due to scheduling conflicts, with TheWrap reporting that the actor did not have sufficient time to prepare for his demanding role in the military thriller after having just wrapped up Anton Corbijn's "Life".

The Edward Cullen of the "Twilight" movie series was initially on board to play an interrogator who spearheaded the search for former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein. The indie movie is based on noval "Mission: Black List #1" by Maddox and Davin Seay.

The lead role of Maddox will be recast with an eye to start production this fall. Jesper Ganslandt is still attached to direct with the script written by Erik Jendresen, Dylan Kussman and Trace Sheehan.

Pattinson has two films, David Cronenberg's "Maps to the Stars" and David Michod's "The Rover", scheduled to be premiered at Cannes Film Festival this May. The 27-year-old is also set to star alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in James Gray's "The Lost City of Z" and share screen with Carey Mulligan in James Marsh-directed thriller "Hold on to Me".
