According to multiple reports, Rooney who is probably mostly remembered in Andy Hardy movies, passes away after suffering from an illness for some time.

AceShowbiz - Actor Mickey Rooney who probably is mostly remembered for his appearance as Andy Hardy in "The Hardy Boys" movies has passed away. His son Michael Joseph Rooney confirmed to New York Times that the actor died on Sunday, April 6 at the age of 93. He reportedly suffered from an illness for some time before his death.
Rooney, who was born Joe Yule, Jr. in a Brooklyn, N.Y., spent most of his life in the entertainment industry. He made his first stage appearance when he was 17 months old, taking part in his parents' performances. He later appeared in movies at the age of 6.
Throughout his 87 years of career, he took part in about 200 projects such as "Boys Town" and "The Black Stallion". He also appeared in "National Velvet" starring Elizabeth Taylor and played alongside Audrey Hepburn in "Breakfast at Tiffany's". Most recently, he appeared alongside Ben Stiller in 2006's "Night at the Museum" and "The Muppets" in 2011.
Rooney was awarded with two special Oscars, the Juvenile Award in 1939 and an Honorary Oscar 1983. He also won an Emmy award for his performance as a mentally ill man in 1981's CBS telefilm "Bill". "When I was 19 years old, I was the No. 1 star of the world, for two years. When I was 40, nobody wanted me. I couldn't get a job. And then a professor from the University of Tennessee got a show together with Terry Allen Kramer and Harry Rigby called 'Sugar Babies', and it resurrected my career," he emotionally said in 1983.
Rooney got married eight times. He is survived by his eighth wife Jan Chamberlin whom he married in 1978 and nine children.
