'Hunger Games', 'Divergent' and 'Thor' Up for Best Character at 2014 MTV Movie Awards

Katniss Everdeen, Tris, Loki, Khan, and Veronica Mars are vying for Golden Popcorn as Favorite Character at the 23rd annual event.

AceShowbiz - MTV Movie Awards reveals an additional nomination, days ahead of its 23rd annual ceremony on April 13. The category is Favorite Character which winner will be determined via fans' hashtag-votes on social media like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Vine.

The candidates are "The Hunger Games" heroine Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), "Divergent" female lead Beatrice "Tris" Prior (Shailene Woodley), "Veronica Mars" title character (Kristen Bell), "Thor" nemesis Loki (Tom Hiddleston), and "Star Trek Into Darkness" main baddie Khan (Benedict Cumberbatch).

The voting starts April 1 and continues until the live telecast. Fans can write #votekatniss, #votetris, #voteveronicamars, #voteloki, or #votekhan to help their favorite character win the Golden Popcorn which will be awarded at the event at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.

"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" now bags a total of eight nods, thanks to the newly-announced nomination. It dominates the pack along with "American Hustle" and "The Wolf of Wall Street", followed by Jennifer Aniston's "We're the Millers" with six.

Woodley is set to present at the awards show along with her "The Fault in Our Stars" co-star Ansel Elgort. Other confirmed presenters are "The Other Woman (2014)" cast Cameron Diaz, Kate Upton, and Leslie Mann.

Conan O'Brien will host the event. Mark Wahlberg will be presented with Generation Award by "Entourage" cast like Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Dillon, and Jerry Ferrara. Ellie Goulding and Zedd will perform "Divergent" theme songs, "Beating Heart" and "Find You" respectively.
