Janelle Monae Premieres New Song 'What Is Love' From 'Rio 2'

Along with other songs by Bruno Mars, Anne Hathaway and Jamie Foxx, the catchy track will be included in 'Rio 2' soundtrack album that will be released on March 25.

AceShowbiz - Janelle Monae is among musicians who have made contributions to the soundtrack of "Rio 2". On Tuesday, March 4, the R&B songstress premiered "What Is Love" which is the song she penned and recorded for the upcoming animated movie.

"What Is Love" is a mid-tempo catchy track that blends soul, gospel, funk and tropical vibes. It features Monae singing about being head over heels in love with someone. "Listen to me darling/ I wake up every morning/ Thinking bout the way you feel/ I wonder if you know it/ And what good is the party/ If you're not around," she coos.

The song will appear in "Rio 2" soundtrack album that is scheduled to arrive on March 25. The record will also feature contributions from the movie's cast members like Bruno Mars, Anne Hathaway, Rita Moreno and Jamie Foxx. Meanwhile, the Carlos Saldanha-directed comedy film is set to open in U.S. theaters on April 11.

On March 27, Monae will make an appearance on "American Idol" to deliver the live performance of "What Is Love".
