Beck Performs New Tracks Off 'Morning Phase' on 'Saturday Night Live'

The singer/songwriter plays his guitar while singing 'Blue Moon' before returning to the stage to perform 'Wave' with a string orchestra.

Following the release of "Morning Phase", Beck took the stage of "Saturday Night Live" to promote the new album. The singer/songwriter performed two new tracks appearing in the record that arrived earlier the week.

Beck, who made his seventh appearance in the March 1 episode of the NBC show, kicked off his set with "Blue Moon". He played his guitar while singing and being backed by a band that included Father John Misty's J. Tillman.

Later in the show, the 43-year-old multi-instrumentalist returned to the stage and delivered the live rendition of "Wave". For the second performance, he was joined onstage by a string orchestra.

"Morning Phase", marking Beck's twelfth studio effort, arrives as a "companion piece" to his 2002 album "Sea Change". In a press release, Beck has said that the new set "harkens back to the stunning harmonies, songcraft and staggering emotional impact of that record, while surging forward with infectious optimism".

"Morning Phase" has received rave reviews from critics. It has been projected to sell 65,000 copies in its first week and is expected to enter Billboard 200's top 10.
