Michael Bay's Hong Kong Attacker Sentenced to Over Two Years in Jail

The man who attacked the 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' director is found guilty of blackmail and assaulting a cop.

The men who attacked Michael Bay on the Hong Kong set of his new film "Transformers: Age of Extinction" last year have got jail sentences. One of them was slapped with two and a half years in prison, while the other was sentenced to six weeks behind bars.

Mak Chi-shing, 27, was convicted of blackmail and assaulting a police officer in the execution of his duty. Meanwhile, his 28-year-old brother Mak Chi-hang was acquitted of blackmail charge due to insufficient evidence, but he was found guilty of resisting arrest.

An aggravating factor in the sentencing, Judge Josiah Lam Wai-kuen said, was the fact that the case had tarnished Hong Kong's reputation abroad.

The incident happened last October. Bay and his crew were approached by the local guys who flipped out when their demand for so-called compensation money was denied. At one point, one of the angry men attacked with an air conditioner. Bay was injured in the scuffle but refused to get medical attention.
