In addition to the new track by Goulding, the movie's soundtrack album will feature songs from Zedd, Snow Patrol, Kendrick Lamar, Tame Impala, Skrillex and A$AP Rocky among others.
Ellie Goulding has contributed to the soundtrack of highly-anticipated movie "Divergent" by recording a new track titled "Beating Heart". The song was premiered by Entertainment Weekly on Monday, February 24.
"In the last scene of the movie, Tris has just experienced multiple tragedies, even as she triumphs [for the moment] over her enemies," the movie's director Neil Burger said. "Ellie wrote 'Beating Heart' and we knew it'd be perfect for the end of the movie."
"Her lyrics almost merge with Tris' voice-over and her music lets the movie soar above the tragedy. The sadness is still there but so is the transcendence. It's a fantastic song," he added.
In addition to recording "Beating Heart", Goulding's other tracks including "Dead in the Water" and "My Blood" from her 2012 album "Halcyon" will appear in "Divergent" soundtrack.
"We started working on the film with songs from Ellie Goulding's album 'Halcyon' and soon found that the texture of her music and the tone of her voice matched perfectly with our film," Burger recently explained in a release. "In many ways Ellie has become the inner voice of our heroine Tris."
Goulding isn't the only artist whose songs will appear in the film's soundtrack album that's coming out on March 11. The record also includes contributions from Zedd, Snow Patrol, Kendrick Lamar, Tame Impala, Skrillex and A$AP Rocky among others.
As for the film, "Divergent" which is based on the novel by Veronica Roth follows the story of Tris who's played by Shailene Woodley. Also starring Theo James and Kate Winslet, the sci-fi flick is set to open in U.S. theater on March 21.
