The former 'High School Musical' hunk spills that he did meet with Disney executives to discuss the J.J. Abrams-directed movie.
Zac Efron is one of the hopefuls eying to land a role in the hotly-anticipated "Star Wars Episode 7". In a recent interview with MTV to promote his new movie "That Awkward Moment", he confirmed he went to a meeting with Disney to talk about the project.
"Yeah, I just went and met with them (Disney executives)," the former Disney actor said when the topic came up during "most likely to..." game with MTV's Josh Horowitz. "So I don't know. It would be cool. I love the Star Wars movies I love them, but who knows?"
Another former Disney star among the rumored candidates was Ryan Gosling. Efron's "Awkward Moment" co-star Michael B. Jordan also confirmed he auditioned for "Star Wars" and so did Saoirse Ronan who said, "I just auditioned for it, like everyone else did."
Most recently, "Breaking Bad" actor Jesse Plemons became the hotly-tipped contender for a role in the movie. "Episode 7", directed by J.J. Abrams, is slated to hit theatres on December 18, 2015. Two sequels are set to follow for 2017 and 2019 releases respectively.
No official cast members have been announced, but Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher are expected to reprise their roles as the classic "Star Wars" trio, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Princess Leia.
