2014 ACM Awards Nominations Put Miranda Lambert and Tim McGraw on Lead

The country music veterans get seven nominations apiece while Keith Urban follows closely behind with six.

AceShowbiz - Miranda Lambert scored in key categories of the 49th annual Academy of Country Music Awards nominations. It was revealed on Wednesday, January 29 that Lambert and Tim McGraw led this year's pack with seven nods each.

Lambert in particular earned a nomination in the coveted category Entertainer of the Year along with Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, George Strait and Taylor Swift. McGraw missed out on the top categories but earned nominations in Album of the Year and Video of the Year among others, thanks to "Two Lanes of Freedom" and "Highway Don't Care" respectively.

Keith Urban followed them closely behind with six nominations including Male Vocalist of the Year. Newcomer and recent Grammy winner Kacey Musgraves is taking five nominations, battling the title of Female Vocalist of the Year against veterans Swift, Lambert, Carrie Underwood and Sheryl Crow.

The ceremony to hand out the prizes will be held on Sunday, April 6 and broadcast live by CBS from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Nominees Blake Shelton and Bryan will host.
