Having blasted NBC's plans to remake her show "Murder, She Wrote", Angela Lansbury is now "relieved" that the reboot project is dead. To BBC News, she admits that she's "terribly pleased" after learning that the network pulled the plug on the project.

"I knew it was a terrible mistake," so the Emmy-nominated and Oscar-winning actress says. She goes on reasoning why she opposed the idea to remake the 1990s series, "I didn't want [the remake] to sully the memory."

Lansbury, however, has nothing but good words for Octavia Spencer who was tapped to take a lead role in the proposed reboot. "Octavia Spencer is a superb actress. She had no business being put into a situation that she couldn't win," she says.

Deadline reported on Tuesday, January 21 that NBC decided not to move forward with "Murder, She Wrote" reboot. The project was envisioned "as a light, contemporary procedural in the vein of 'Bones' or 'Fargo'," with Academy Award-winning actress Spencer attached to play an astute amateur detective, who was portrayed by Lansbury on the original series.

Despite scrapping the reboot project for now, the network's execs reportedly still want to revive the mystery series possibly with a new concept since the original show was a big hit.

I would like for NBC or CBS to bring back Murder She Wrote as long as they keep the original concept, an older lady who is a writer of murder-mystery novels and also helps the police in Cabot Cove and other exotic places. Angela Lansbury once said, she would love to return as "Jessica Fletcher" one more time. So, NBC or CBS, how about a new tv-movie with Angela Lansbury and a new older actress (maybe a Fletcher that is a niece or a grandchild) to continue the stories.
