Oscar-nominated filmmaker David O. Russell is lending his talent to the small screen. A drama project from the "American Hustle" writer/director and "Erin Brockovich" writer Susannah Grant has been given a straight-to-series 13-episode order from ABC.

The yet-to-titled show is described as "an upstairs/downstairs soap centered on a private country club." Russell and Grant co-wrote the story, with Grant writing the teleplay. The two will also serve as executive producers for the series, alongside Carl Beverly and Sarah Timberman.

Russell was nominated for Best Director at the Academy Awards in 2011 for "The Fighter" and in 2013 for "Silver Linings Playbook". He's vying for the same title again this year for "American Hustle", which also earned him best original screenplay nomination at the upcoming March 2 ceremony.

The Golden Globe-nominated director previously tried his hands on TV in a 2011 drama project set up at FX with Connie Britton attached to star, but it never saw the light of day.
