The first official poster for the sequel to 'Catching Fire' sees the fictional Mockingjay bird caught on fire.
The first poster for "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1" has been unleashed. Like the posters for the previous two movies, this picture draws inspiration from the cover of Suzanne Collins' bestselling book. It features a fiery Mockingjay pin with the bird in the front and center spreading its wings. It is a symbol of hope for the oppressed people in the districts of Panem.
The movie is currently with the last entry, "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2", shot back to back in Atlanta. Director Francis Lawrence from the second film "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" returns behind the lens, while Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth reprise their respective roles as Katniss, Peeta and Gale.
In this film, Katniss Everdeen reluctantly leads the districts of Panem in a rebellion against the tyrannical and corrupt Capitol after previously competing in a deadly televised game. Julianne Moore is brought in to play the rebellion leader President Alma Coin, while Robert Knepper is set to portray an original character named Antonius.
The first film was released in 2012 before the second one followed a year later. The latter became the highest-grossing film at the domestic box office of 2013, marking the first time a 2D film tops the yearly chart since "The Dark Knight" did so in 2008. Both movies grossed $1.6 billion in worldwide ticket sales combined.
The first part of "Mockingjay" will be released in the United States on November 21, 2014 , before the franchise concludes with the second "Mockingjay" on November 20, 2015.
