The sequel to 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' is scheduled to open Stateside on July 29, 2016 with Matt Reeves returning as a director.

AceShowbiz - The third installment in the rebooted "Planet of the Apes" series has got a release date. "Planet of the Apes 3" is slated to arrive in theaters across the United States on July 29, 2016, with director Matt Reeves from the second entry set to return behind the lens.

The "Cloverfield" helmer is also expected to write the script for the 20th Century Fox film along with Mark Bomback, one of the writers who penned the screenplay for the second film, "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes", due to open Stateside on July 11 this year.

There is more shifting in Fox's movie release calendar. The adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' romantic novel, "The Longest Ride", is moved from February 13, 2015, where "Fifty Shades of Grey" is due. It now competes against scary pic "Insidious Chapter 3" and sci-fi "Passengers (2015)" on April 3, 2015.

But the studio is not abandoning the Valentine's Day, as "Poltergeist" reboot is set on the weekend to face off the big screen take on E.L. James' S&M romance story. Directed by Gil Kenan ("Monster House"), the horror remake stars Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt.

Furthermore, Fox moves "Night at the Museum 3" up from Christmas Day to December 19 later this year. The star-studded comedy led by Ben Stiller is now slated to go face to face against the "Annie" remake and "The Hobbit: There and Back Again".

The studio's R-rated action comedy "Let's Be Cops", meanwhile, is slated to open on August 15 this year. The buddy comedy starring Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. will face off Sylvester Stallone's "The Expendables 3" and book-adapted movie "The Giver".
