Blake's father, Ernie Lively, decides to undergo a ground-breaking heart procedure because he wants to enjoy more active lifestyle.

AceShowbiz - Blake Lively's father, Ernie Lively, has undergone a unique heart procedure following a major heart attack in 2003. The retired actor successfully underwent the first retrograde heart procedure on November 7 which was carried out by Dr. Amit Patel of the University of Utah School of Medicine.
"I woke up this morning and told my wife, 'I haven't felt this good in years.' I moved to Utah because of the snow, but I haven't been able to ski. I literally didn't have the heart to do it. Now, I'm excited about living the rest of my life instead of sitting around," said Lively, who became the first patient in the world to undergo the procedure. Lively is now no longer envious when watching people skiing because he is able to carry out more active lifestyle.
In addition to ski, Lively plans to use the energy to play with his grandchildren. "I have three rambunctious grandchildren in Utah and three more in California who are a lot of fun and keep me busy. And I think I'll have more. My youngest daughter [Blake] is newly married and wants a big family. She says she wants 30 kids. I said, 'Why don't you start with one?' " he continued in the statement posted by the University of Utah.
The "Gossip Girl" star's parents live in Utah. She has an older brother Eric, two half-sisters Lori and Robyn and half-brother Jason. Blake resides in New York with her husband Ryan Reynolds.
