The sequel which will see Johnny Depp and Mia Wasikowska returning as Mad Hatter and Alice respectively is scheduled to hit theaters in May 2016.

AceShowbiz - The sequel to 2010's box office hit "Alice in Wonderland" starring Johnny Depp and Mia Wasikowska has got an official release date. Disney announces the upcoming "Alice in Wonderland 2" will come out on May 27, 2016 Stateside.
James Bobin ("Muppets Most Wanted") takes over the helming duty from Tim Burton who directed the first film. Depp will return as Mad Hatter and Wasikowska in on board to reprise her role as the titular Alice in the second installment.
The Mouse House also has booked a date for a new live-action adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's classic tale "The Jungle Book". Directed by "Iron Man" helmer Jon Favreau, it will make its way out in the United States on October 9, 2015.
Elsewhere, Warner Bros. set Ron Howard's "In the Heart of the Sea" about the sinking of the New England whaling ship Essex to be released on March 13, 2015. It stars Chris Hemsworth, Benjamin Walker, Cillian Murphy, and Ben Whishaw.
