AceShowbiz - In order to demonstrate the stability and precision of Volvo Dynamic Steering, the motor company hired Belgian actor Jean-Claude Van Damme. At 53 years old, Van Damme was still able to show his famous flexibility by performing splits in between two moving Volvo trucks.
The Volvo commercial begins with a close shot of Van Damme's face before the camera pans out and shows that the actor is standing in between two trucks moving in reverse on some kind of runway. As the trucks drift apart, Van Damme spreads his legs while his arms stay folded.
"I've had my ups and downs," he says in the ad. "My fair share of bumpy roads and heavy winds. That's what made me what I am today. Now I stand here before you. What you see is a body crafted to perfection. A pair of legs engineered to defy the laws of physics and a mindset to master the most epic of splits."
Thanks to Van Damme's "epic" stunt, the video has gone viral. It received more than 7 million hits since it was posted on YouTube Wednesday, November 13. Volvo said that some safety equipment was edited out but Van Damme's stunt is real and involved no computer trickery.
Van Damme has demonstrated his ability in doing such split in his early movies such as "Kickboxer" and "Double Impact". He learned Karate, Kickboxing and ballet.
