The 'After Earth' actor will play the male lead who lives on the island of Manhattan along with his daughter when it breaks off and floats across the sea.
Will Smith is officially on board to star in 20th Century Fox's adventure film called "The City That Sailed". "Night at the Museum" helmer Shawn Levy has been billed to serve behind the lens for the upcoming potential tentpole.
Scripted by Audrey Wells ("The Game Plan"), it will center on a father and daughter on the island of Manhattan as it breaks loose and sails across the Atlantic Ocean. Smith who serves as one of the producers is expected to play the father.
Smith was last seen in "After Earth" with his real-life son Jaden Smith. He will next make a cameo in "Anchorman: The Legend Continues", stars in Akiva Goldsman's "Winter's Tale", and leads romcom drama "Focus".
Levy previously directed comedy "The Internship" for Fox and recently wrapped "This Is Where I Leave You" for Warner Bros. He will next helm "Night at the Museum 3". His other directorial credits include "Date Night" and "Real Steel".
