A sneak peek at "The Sound of Music Live!" has been made available in a new promo for the NBC special. Since the three-hour holiday production is going to be live, there's no footage from the final product but the video captures the stars during rehearsals.
Carrie Underwood, who plays Maria, is seen singing "My Favorite Things" and "The Sound of Music", and also dancing with Stephen Moyer, who is set to portray Capt. Georg Von Trapp. Actresses singing in full nun attire and the child stars are additionally featured in it.
From executive producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, "The Sound of Music Live!" is based on the original 1959 Broadway production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical. It will air live on NBC December 5 starting at 8 P.M. ET.
Joining the cast are Audra McDonald who is tapped to play Mother Abbess, Laura Benanti who will star as von Trapp family friend Max Detweiler, and Christian Borle who takes on the role of Elsa Schrader, Capt. Georg von Trapp's onetime fiancee.
