The History Channel star is allegedly a top choice to play one of the four leads in Legendary's take on the Blizzard epic video game.

AceShowbiz - Travis Fimmel is reportedly close to join Legendary's "Warcraft". The former Calvin Klein model who is best known for his breakout role in History Channel's critically acclaimed series "Vikings" is a top contender to play one of the four leads in the project.

Paula Patton is also in talks for the upcoming live-action adaptation of Blizzard's video game to be directed by "Source Code" director Duncan Jones. Colin Farrell has got an offer to join the cast as well but his deal "is not as far along," Variety reports.

The film will be set in a high-fantasy medieval-like world where gryphons, dragons, zombies, werewolves and elves exist. "Blood Diamond" scribe Charles Leavitt will write the script. Production is expected to kick-start early next year for December 18, 2015 release.

The film was first announced back in 2006. Paul Dano, Anson Mount and Anton Yelchin are also rumored being courted for the movie. "Spider-Man" director Sam Raimi was initially attached to take on the helming duty, but he bowed out last year.

Fimmel was last seen on the big screen in "The Baytown Outlaws" released this January. His show "Vikings" is entering its second season. He once starred in 2009's crime drama series "The Beast" as one of the leads alongside Patrick Swayze.
